Caroline Diehl is a serial social entrepreneur in the impact media space. She is Executive Chair and Founder of the UK’s only charitable and co-operatively owned national broadcast television channel Together TV, the leading broadcaster for social change runs a national TV channel in the UK and digital platform which helps people find inspiration to do good in their lives and communities.
Together TV programs entertaining shows that focus on wellbeing, creativity and the quirky essence of British life, while highlighting the great work of the charitable and voluntary sector. In doing so, the station opens the audience’s eyes to the opportunities around them and motivate them to take part.
Ms. Diehl has set up Impact Media, www.impactmedia.global, building a global network to support and resource impact media platforms around the world. Impact Media is holding its inaugural conference on 26th January 2022.
Caroline has many years’ experience of working in social impact media, and widespread connections across the media, digital, non-profit and social enterprise sectors in the UK, Europe, India, Sri Lanka, Japan and the US.
In 1994, after 5 years as UK Director of ‘social action broadcasting’ for Community Service Volunteers, Caroline founded the Media Trust, the UK’s leading communications charity, www.mediatrust.org where she was CEO to 2017, including setting up Together TV (The Community Channel), and working with a wide range of media and digital companies, charities, donors and social enterprises. Caroline was also co-founder of Public Voice, the consortium set up to lobby for ‘citizens’ interests’ to be included in the UK’s last two Communications Acts, and a board member of the Broadcasters’ Diversity Network.
In addition to Together TV Caroline has set up the Social Founder Network, www.socialfounder.org, a global network for and about founders of charities and social enterprises, including social impact media organizations. She is Creator and Presenter of the podcast series ‘Social Founder Stories’ on all good podcast platforms and at www.socialfounder.org/podcasts. She is a Governor of the £500m East London NHS Foundation Trust, a Churchill Fellow, a Fellow of the RSA and of the WEA, and an Entrepreneur in Residence at INSEAD, the global business school.
