Co-founders William Mann and David Mravyan devised the Sensimat during a mandatory project for their MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business in Canada. Sensimat is a device that helps manage and assess pressure among wheelchair users.
The technology is a “smart cushion” filled with pressure sensors that can assess how long a person has been sitting in the same position. It’s fitted underneath a wheelchair cushion and linked to a mobile app via Bluetooth to monitor the data. It can prevent bed sores for wheelchair-consigned individuals because of their inability to change positions for prolonged periods.
