Not your typically standing cafe, the Stables Cafe, which was set up by Glen Duckett from Thwaites pub the Eagle and Child Ramsbottom in Lancashire, is a place where youths are being given second chances at life. These youths have been long-term unemployed, homeless or have served juvenile detention.
The Stables at Heaton Park near Prestwich offers these youths their much-needed break to kick start their working careers and earn both work and life skills. The cafe have committed to train and hire more than 60 young people who are pretty much unemployed. It will also serve homemade eats like salads, breads and cakes, sandwiches, and afternoon tea. Most of the cafe’s ingredients are locally-sourced.
